Great skiing and snowboarding in a unique bamboo forest
setting amid the stunning Andes of South America.
Bariloche - in
Northern Patagonia – is an Alpine like resort, and favourite
party destination of students from Buenos Aires.
The mountain resort is huge, 2 resorts combined with easy access
on high speed quads, large areas off piste that seldom get tracked
out, mountain restaurants and shops alive with the elegance of South
America.
Argentina is a proven favourite with those seeking summer snow
in South America. Based in Bariloche in the Andes, this course runs for 8 weeks. You'll train for internationally
recognised ski or snowboard certification with BASI. Peter Kuwall,
the Chief Executive of BASI has announced, "I am delighted
to be able to announce a new initiative to run courses culminating
in BASI qualifications in 2005 in Argentina. Working with Peak Leaders
UK Ltd, the Scottish based gap year and time out training company
and also with The Andes’ Mountains’ Club, Bariloche,
BASI trainers will provide training and accreditation for their
ski and snowboard instructor courses in Argentina.” Also included,
is a certificate in first aid, avalanche awareness and team leading
training, park and pipe skills training, risk assessment, and a
ski / board maintenance clinic. Accommodation is a stunning, lakeside
lodge with flight, trips, most meals, 2 days’ exploring Buenos
Aires, being a gaucho for a day and Spanish
language training all included.

ANTILLANCA/CHILE Located in the National Park
Puyehue, Antillanca is a well kept secret with locals and travelers
alike looking for great snow in a non-commercial ski area. The slopes
are almost always empty, and the hiking to off-piste runs is worth
the sweat. Although a few days are long enough to enjoy the snow,
the views into Argentina and many local volcanoes could keep you
there a full week. This is where you hike the volcanoes and ski
to the frozen centers of them. This resort kicks........ BUTT!
